There was a special kind of energy in the air as the children took their first steps into the new Folkeparken School – with fresh backpacks, eager eyes, and butterflies in their stomachs. We at Bjørnådal Arkitektstudio are proud to share the first images from the opening, beautifully captured by photographer Vilde Roksvåg Ludvigsen.
Folkeparken School is more than an educational facility – it is a poetic and safe framework for children's development. Here, they will learn, play, explore, and grow – surrounded by forest, parkland, and architecture shaped with care and quality at every level.
Covering 4,000 square metres and designed to passive house standards, the school combines sustainable materials, skilled craftsmanship, and a vibrant use of colour. We are particularly proud of the brickwork and the interplay between warm brick, bronze-coloured windows, and bright façade panels – a composition that gives the building both warmth and character.
The project has been developed for Kristiansund Municipality, with Betonmast Røsand AS as the main contractor. With temporary occupancy now granted, the school is in full use. We look forward to seeing how both the children and the local community make the place their own – and how the architecture comes to life through learning, play, and everyday experience.
