BODØ2024: We are very proud that our illustration of the opening scene adorns the new stamps for Bodø2024 and Posten.
In collaboration with Bodø2024, Posten unveiled two brand new stamps at Bodø City Hall on Monday morning. The stamps feature motifs from the Bodø region, highlighting that Bodø and Nordland will be the European Capital of Culture in 2024. Posten's Stamp Director, Halvor Fasting, revealed the stamps in cooperation with Bodø Mayor, Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen, and Bodø2024 Director, André Wallann Larsen.
"This is one of the biggest cultural projects in Norway in the last decade and the largest ever in Northern Norway. Of course, we at Posten want to celebrate and honor this festive year that is just around the corner," said the Stamp Director.
Lule Sami for the first time
The stamp featuring the scene is designed by Hans-Petter Bjørnådal / Bjørnådal Arkitektstudio. Kristin Slotterøy from Nordland is responsible for stamp design, and the stamps will be available from February 5th, the day before Sami National Day. The Lule Sami language will also be represented on the stamps for the very first time in history. Kalle Urheim performed a joik about the wind, concluding the stamp launch.
"It feels natural when we are now marking this cultural celebration right in the area where the Lule Sami language is most prevalent, that their language is also featured on the stamps. Previously, the North and South Sami languages have adorned stamps," continued Stamp Director Fasting.
