A First Glimpse of the New Folkeparken School in Kristiansund

Bjørnådal Arkitektstudio is proud to share the first images of the new Folkeparken School in Kristiansund—a project that has now received temporary occupancy approval and is moving steadily towards completion.

This is more than just a school building. Folkeparken is envisioned as a place where children are given space to learn, play, and grow—a framework for future generations. With its close proximity to both nature and the public park, the school offers students access to green surroundings that nurture imagination, well-being, and a deeper connection to the environment.

Covering 4,000 square metres and designed to meet Passive House standards, the project combines poetic architecture with sustainable material choices and high-quality craftsmanship. Of particular note is the beautifully executed brickwork, which lends the building a distinctive character along with durability and long-term environmental sustainability—a structure designed to stand the test of time.

Commissioned by Kristiansund Municipality with Betonmast Røsand AS as the main contractor, the project is entering its final phase. We look forward to completion later this summer, when the school will come to life as a vibrant meeting place for children, nature, and the local community.
